Calling into a tunnel
- Call, don't chat. Short raised phrases, a name or a question thrown into the dark, show off the flutter.
- Clip the last syllable hard. A sharp ending makes the 0.12-second repeats audible as a rattle.
- Count two beats before answering yourself or carrying on, so the 2.5-second tail has run most of its length.
- Back away from the mic by a forearm. A voice that is too close and warm fights the hollow tone.
Tunnel, pipe or subway passage
- Main clip: a road or rail tunnel. The general choice for exploration streams, horror games and urban-legend stories.
- Echo every 0.04 s with more feedback: a narrow metal pipe. The repeats are so close they turn into a ringing note, good for vents, sewers and crawling-through-ducts scenes.
- Reverb 4.5 s: a long tiled subway passage. The flutter is the same but the tail runs nearly twice as long, for station announcements and distant footsteps-and-voices scenes.

Free tunnel voice effect FAQ
Why does my voice sound metallic?
Echoes this close together stop sounding like repeats and start sounding like a pitch. Lower the Echo slider to soften it, or take it to zero for a tunnel made of reverb alone.
Will the tunnel effect work in Google Meet?
Yes. Meet runs in a Chrome tab, so after you press Use this voice in calls you can select Facecam Virtual Mic in Meet's audio settings.
Is this the same as the echo voice?
No. The echo voice has slower repeats and a bright four-second cave around them. The tunnel's repeats are more than twice as fast and its tone is darker and narrower.
