Echo and reverb are two different things

The two clips under the main one split them apart: one with only the echo (a classic slap-back), one with only a shorter 1.5-second reverb (a big hall).

Keep it from turning to mush

Use headphones. If your speakers play the echo back into the mic, it repeats forever.
Speak in short phrases and let them ring. Long sentences blur into the tail.
In calls, lower Reverb length to 1–2 seconds; people can still answer you.
Turn off the call app's noise suppression. It treats the tail as noise and chops it.
