Why phones sound like phones
A traditional phone call only carries roughly 300 to 3,400 Hz. That's enough to understand words, but it drops the chest of a voice and the air on top. The preset cuts the same band, then samples the result at 8 kHz with 8 bits, which is where the slight grain comes from. A small mid boost at 1.8 kHz adds the honk of a handset speaker.

Free telephone voice changer FAQ
Is this a voice changer for phone calls?
No. It makes your voice sound like a phone line in calls that run in Chrome. It can't change your voice on a real phone call.
Why does it sound quieter?
Cutting the bass and treble removes a lot of energy. The preset's compressor makes up most of it; raise Output volume if you need more.
What's the difference from the radio voice?
The radio voice is wider (400–4,000 Hz) and adds crunch instead of digital grain. Telephone is narrower and lo-fi.
