More about this voice

The tremble

Age shows in a voice as unsteadiness more than depth. The preset adds a gentle wobble about five times a second, close to a natural voice tremor. Pitch only drops a little (-2), and the bass and treble are trimmed with a lift in the middle, which thins the voice the way age does.

Older women's voices

There is no separate grandma preset. Starting from a higher voice works well because the preset only lowers pitch slightly; the tremble and thinner sound do the ageing.

Delivery

  • Slow down and leave small hesitations.
  • Let some words trail off.
  • Avoid shouting; the wobble turns harsh.

Old man voice changer FAQ

Why not lower it more?

Older voices aren't always deeper. A big drop sounds like a younger man with a deep voice, not an older one.

What if my voice is already deep?

It still works. The preset only drops your pitch slightly, so you'll sound like a deep-voiced older man; the tremble does most of the work.
