More about this voice

Where the strangeness comes from

  • A light, high buzz mixed in gives a bell-like shimmer. The robot preset uses a much lower, heavier buzz.
  • A fast wobble, about twice a second, makes it warble.
  • A quick echo adds a sense of distance.
  • A small lift in Pitch and Tone (+3 each) keeps it from sounding human-sized.

Alien vs robot

Both mix a buzz into your voice. The robot preset is low, buzzy and dry; the alien one is higher, warbling and spacious. Use robot for machines and alien for creatures.

Alien voice changer FAQ

Can people understand me?

Mostly. The echo can blur fast speech, so slow down and leave short gaps.

Can I get an alien voice from typed text?

Yes. The Character Voice Generator can put the same Alien effect on a typed line, which is handy for a scripted transmission.

Why is the output volume turned up?

The effects make the voice a bit quieter, so the preset turns it up 3 dB to keep it at a normal level.
