Why it sounds like it's on a phone
The preset cuts the deep bass and the high treble and pushes up the nasal middle, the way a phone line does. It also flattens the difference between loud and quiet words, like a phone line. Distortion adds the gravel: more than the villain voice, less than the monster. A moderate drop (Pitch -5, Tone -3) makes it bigger without turning it into a creature.
Delivery
- Stay quiet and calm. The menace comes from restraint; shouting just turns into distortion.
- Leave long pauses. Silence does more on a call than any effect.
- Ask questions instead of making statements.
- Speak close to the mic. The preset mutes very quiet sounds, so soft words far from the mic can get cut.

Is this the voice from the movie?
It's an original preset in the same style, not a copy of any film's voice or character.
How is it different from the demon voice?
Demon is much lower and rings on like a cave. Masked horror has no echo and sounds thin, like it's coming down a phone line.
Can I use it on a phone call?
Not live. It works on websites in Chrome on a computer, not on phone calls or phone apps. You can record a message in the Online Voice Changer and send the file instead.
Can I make this voice from typed text?
Not with this exact preset. The Character Voice Generator reads typed text and can add the Villain or Telephone effect, which gets you close.
