More about this voice
Why it sounds like a mask and not a deep voice
| Part | Setting | What you hear |
|---|---|---|
| Mask resonance | Midrange +8 dB around 1.3 kHz | A loud boxy ring, like talking into a cup |
| Brightness | Pitch -1, Tone +1.5 | Barely lower, with a smaller, oddly light throat |
| Muffle | Treble cut above 4.2 kHz | Dull consonants behind the mouthpiece |
| Pipes | Flanger 0.1 times a second, 30% mix; distortion 0.15, 30% mix | A faint hollow, tube-fed edge |
| Space | Reverb 15%, 0.4 s | A small echo right around the face |
Perform it like a stage speech
- Sing-song the sentences. Swoop up on an unexpected word and glide down at the end; the melody is most of the character.
- Be polite and amused. This voice delivers threats as courteous observations.
- Over-pronounce every consonant, since the mask filter dulls them.
- Speak in long, unhurried sentences and don't rush to fill a silence.
Bane, Darth Vader or Batman?
All three are masked, but they are built differently. The Darth Vader-style voice is six steps down and slow, with depth doing the work. The Batman-style voice is four steps down with a 30% whisper, a growl kept close. Bane's pitch hardly moves; the mask is an 8 dB peak at 1.3 kHz, so it is bright and theatrical. For more weight and less theatre, the third clip (Pitch -4, Tone -1) sits halfway to the other two.
Free Bane voice changer FAQ
Is it the real Bane voice from the film?
No. It imitates a mask's resonance with an equalizer, a flanger and reverb. Nothing comes from the film's soundtrack, and the accent and melody are yours to perform.
Can I use the Bane voice in Google Meet?
Yes. With the Facecam extension installed, press Use this voice in calls, then pick Facecam Virtual Mic in Meet's audio settings.
How do I get more of the mask?
Load the second clip: midrange rises to +11 dB and the treble cut drops to 3.5 kHz, which sounds deeper inside the mask.
