Keep it kind and quiet

  • Speak softly in your ordinary register and let the Pitch slider do the lifting. Pushing into real falsetto on top of +9 goes thin and shaky.
  • Open lines with a short, breathy chuckle. It is the quickest way to make the voice read as this mouse.
  • Stay calm in volume. A shout at this height turns harsh, and the character never really shouts anyway.
  • Choose warm lines: greetings, birthday wishes, encouragement, gentle surprise.

Three clips, three uses

Start with the main clip for short greetings and messages. The Pitch +7 clip is a gentler falsetto that is easier to keep up: pick it for reading a story or hosting a whole call, when nine steps starts to wear on listeners. The Tone +6 clip leaves the height alone and shrinks the body, giving a smaller mouse that suits a puppet, a plush toy on camera or an animated short. Higher starting voices usually land closer to the character on Pitch +7 as well.
