What water does to a voice

Water and walls let low sounds through and swallow high ones. The preset copies that with a steep cut at 650 Hz, which keeps the rhythm of your speech but blurs the consonants. A chorus moving 1.2 times a second makes the sound swell and sway, and a short, heavily damped reverb gives it a closed-in feel.

Deeper or calmer

Treble cut at 400 Hz: deeper under the surface. Words are hard to make out, which is the point for a gag or a dream scene.
Wobble at 0.5 times a second: a slower, lazier swell, more like drifting than bubbling.
For a voice that's still understood, leave the preset as it ships and speak slowly and clearly.
