More about this voice

Helium doesn't make you higher

Your vocal cords vibrate at the same rate in helium, so the note of your voice barely moves. What changes is the resonance of your throat and mouth: sound travels faster in helium, so those resonances jump up, and your voice sounds as if it came from a much smaller head. A chipmunk effect raises the note too; helium doesn't.

That's why this voice starts from the Girl preset with Pitch set back to 0 and Tone raised to +7. The settings table shows exactly that, plus a bass cut and a little brightness on top.

Free helium voice changer FAQ

Is this safer than real helium?

Yes: no gas involved. Breathing helium from balloons can starve you of oxygen; this only changes the sound in your browser.

Why does the tool show the Girl preset?

The helium voice is built from it: same bass cut and brightness, with Pitch at 0 and Tone at +7. Press Reset to get the plain Girl preset back.

What's the difference from the chipmunk voice?

The chipmunk raises your note by 10 steps and the tone with it, like a sped-up recording. Helium keeps your note and changes only the tone.
