Give the wobble something to hold

  • Hold your vowels. Vibrato needs a note that lasts; on clipped speech six wobbles a second barely get one cycle in.
  • Sing or half-sing. A sustained, steady note from you becomes an operatic one on the other side.
  • Keep your own voice still. If you add a natural shake on top, the two rates fight and it sounds seasick.
  • For speech, slow down and use grand lines: a toast, a lament, a dramatic announcement.

Slow and wide, or fast and shaky

  • Six a second, the main clip: a singer's vibrato. Use it for mock opera, crooning and held notes.
  • 3 wobbles a second: a slow, wide swing. It sounds woozy and warped, like a tape with an uneven motor, and suits dream scenes and underwater or drunk characters.
  • 9 wobbles a second, shallow: a nervous shake. The pitch barely moves but flutters fast, for a frightened, freezing or very elderly speaker.

Free vibrato voice changer FAQ

Will this give my singing real vibrato?

It adds an even, mechanical wobble to whatever you sing. It doesn't follow the music, so it starts at once on every note where a singer would ease in.

Can I use it in a Zoom call?

In Zoom's web client in Chrome, yes: select Facecam Virtual Mic as the microphone. The installed Zoom app won't show it.

How is vibrato different from chorus?

Same slider, different mix. At 100% you hear only the wobbling voice. Near half, the wobbling copy blends with the straight one and you get the doubled sound of a chorus.

The wobble is too strong. Can I tone it down?

Pull the Chorus slider down from 100% and your straight voice comes back under the wobble. The shallow nine-a-second clip is the other option: there the pitch moves much less.
