More about this voice

How one voice becomes a group

PartSettingWhat you hear
Second voiceChorus / vibrato 50% mixA copy as loud as you, never quite in step
DriftWobbles 0.9 times a secondThe copy sliding slightly sharp, then flat, like a real second speaker
Tidy lowsBass cut below 90 HzDoubled rumble kept from muddying the blend

Nothing else is changed: no pitch shift, no echo, no room. That keeps it useful under other sliders, for example with Pitch lowered for a group of deep voices.

Speak as a crowd would

  • Chant. Even rhythm and equal stress on each word is how groups speak in unison, and the doubling fits it.
  • Stay on a steady pitch through each phrase. Slides and swoops expose that the second voice is a copy.
  • Use plural lines: a crowd answering, a council giving its ruling, a team shouting a name.
  • Keep a normal mic distance and a full voice. Whispered words have too little note to double.

Good places for a doubled voice

Singers use chorus to thicken a thin take, and it does the same for a solo karaoke stream. In roleplay it makes hive minds, twins who speak together and cult chants. For a podcast intro it adds width without sounding like an effect. Mix 75% with feedback puts more voices in the group, at some cost in clarity. With a 2.5-second reverb the group becomes a choir in a hall, best for singing and slow speech.

Free chorus voice changer FAQ

Does it add harmonies?

No. The extra voice sits on your own note, a hair off, so it sounds like unison. It won't sing thirds or fifths above you.

Does the chorus effect work in Microsoft Teams?

In Teams on the web, opened in Chrome, you can pick Facecam Virtual Mic as your microphone. The installed Teams program doesn't offer it.

Why does it sound slightly out of tune?

That drift is the effect: two voices exactly in tune would merge back into one. Bring the Chorus slider down if it is too much for speech.
