More about this voice

Why tiles sound the way they do

PartSettingWhat you hear
Small roomReverb 0.7 s longA quick ring that is gone before your next word
Hard wallsReverb 40% mixA lot of room for such a short tail, as tiles reflect nearly everything
BrightnessTreble +2 dB above 4 kHzThe glassy edge that tile and mirror put on s and t
Thin low endBass cut below 120 HzNo boom, since a small room has no space for deep bass

Singing in the shower, on purpose

  • Sing. This is the room that makes everyone sound better, and the short ring thickens a held note without smearing the tune.
  • Talk at normal speed. At 0.7 seconds the tail never catches up with you, so there is no need to leave gaps.
  • Go a bit louder than you would on a call. A bathroom voice is someone who thinks nobody is listening.
  • For a sketch, turn your head away from the mic now and then, as if talking over your shoulder from the sink.

Bathroom, plain reverb or tunnel

The plain reverb voice runs two seconds and reads as a hall. This one is a third of that length and brighter, so it reads as a room you could touch both walls of. The tunnel voice adds fast repeating echoes and cuts the treble, which sounds like concrete, not tile. Of the two extra clips here, Reverb 0.4 s at 55% is a tiled shower stall, tighter and wetter, and Reverb 1.8 s is a concrete stairwell.

Free bathroom reverb voice effect FAQ

Can I add bathroom reverb to a TikTok video?

Record or upload the audio in the Online Voice Changer, choose this effect and download the file, then add it to your video in your editor. The live version doesn't run on phones.

Why does it sound sharper than my normal voice?

That's the +2 dB treble lift above 4 kHz, which imitates hard tile. If s sounds sting, turn the mic slightly off-axis so you speak past it.

How do I get the shower sound instead of the whole room?

Set Reverb length to 0.4 s and Reverb to 55%, as in the shower stall clip.
