Working with a clipped signal

Don't shout. Distortion squashes loud and quiet to the same level, so yelling adds harshness and no volume. A normal speaking voice gives the same wall of sound.
Over-pronounce consonants. Vowels survive as buzz, while T, K and P are what tell words apart.
Leave gaps between sentences. Without them the sound is one unbroken block and listeners tire quickly.
Breathe away from the mic. Breath noise gets distorted too and comes out as a rasp.
