Sound like you trained for this

  • Stay calm and level. Crews report problems in the same tone as routine checks, and that calm is what people recognise.
  • Wait a second or two before answering anyone. It suggests the signal had a long way to travel.
  • Read out numbers and status items one at a time: fuel, pressure, distance. Lists suit the narrow band.
  • No beep is added at the end of a transmission. If you want one, play it from a soundboard after you finish speaking.

Good uses for a voice from orbit

It fits space roleplay and tabletop sci-fi sessions where one player is outside the ship, science and school videos that need a mission voice, and space-game streams where you narrate your own launch. For a probe or a crew much further out, load the 6-bit clip at 70%: the words start to dissolve into the transmission. For the flight controller on the ground, load the other clip, with the helmet reverb off and less crush, so the two sides of the conversation sound like different places.

Free Astronaut voice changer FAQ

Does it add the beeps heard on space recordings?

No. The voice is made from filtering, a bit crusher and a short reverb, with no added tones. Add a beep separately from the soundboard.

Can I use the astronaut voice in a class video call?

Yes, in Google Meet or Zoom's web client in Chrome: click Use this voice in calls, then pick Facecam Virtual Mic in the meeting's audio settings.

How do I make it sound further away?

Lower the Bit crusher from 10-bit toward 6-bit and raise its mix toward 70%, as in the far-away clip.
