More about this voice

A machine that still sounds like a man

PartSettingWhat you hear
DepthPitch -5, Tone -3A big, relaxed low voice
MachineRobot 40 Hz, 25% mixA low flutter under the voice, not over it
Metal skinFlanger 0.15 times a second, 40% mixA slow sheen, like sound off polished steel
Digital traceBit crusher 12-bit, 20% mixA fine grain you notice only on held vowels
RoomReverb 15%, 1 sA large quiet hall behind him

Sound amused, not robotic

  • Talk like a person, with full melody and sarcasm. The buzz is only at 25%, so a flat robot delivery wastes the voice.
  • Keep the pace easy and conversational, then slow right down for the final phrase.
  • Favour long, reflective lines about people and their flaws over barked orders.
  • Smile slightly while you speak; the contempt is audible.

Ultron, Optimus Prime or the evil robot?

All three are deep machines. The Optimus Prime-style voice is nobler and cleaner: buzz at only 10% and a longer 1.4-second reverb. The evil robot is the opposite, its 40 Hz buzz at 60% plus distortion, a machine with no person in it. The Ultron style sits between them, smooth enough for long speeches. The second clip here raises the buzz to 50% for less man and more metal, and the third drops the bit crusher for a calm, almost human machine.

Free Ultron voice changer FAQ

Is this the voice from the Avengers film?

No. It's a voice in that style made from a pitch shift, a ring modulator and a flanger. It contains no film audio.

Can I stream with the Ultron voice on Twitch?

Yes, if you go live from Twitch's browser streaming studio in Chrome: choose Facecam Virtual Mic as the microphone there. Desktop streaming software can't see that mic.

Why does it sound so human?

By design: the Robot mix is 25%. Push it toward 50% for a harder machine.
