Speak in radio code
- Use clipped reports: location, status, number, done. No full sentences, no pleasantries.
- Leave out small words and stress the nouns. At 70% crush, short hard words are what survives.
- Pause sharply after each transmission. The noise gate shuts below -50 dB, which gives the cut-off of a released radio button. No beep is added; click your tongue if you want one.
- Keep your tone bored and procedural, even for bad news.
Which Combine clip when
Use the main clip for atmosphere and one-word calls: it is the least clear and the closest to squad chatter. The bit crusher at 30% variation gives orders you can make out, which matters in a roleplay group or a tabletop session where people act on what you say. The distortion 0.6 variation is a unit at the edge of radio range, for a last transmission before the signal goes. If the vocoder is too much for a long session, the walkie-talkie voice is the more human alternative.

Is this the real Combine soldier voice from Half-Life 2?
No. It's a sound-alike built from a radio filter, a bit crusher and distortion on your voice, using no audio from the game.
Can I use it in Garry's Mod or another game's voice chat?
Not directly: desktop games can't see the Facecam Virtual Mic. Run your group's voice on discord.com in Chrome, where it shows up as a microphone.
Does it add the radio beeps and static?
No. It changes your voice only. The hard stop between lines comes from the noise gate.
How do I make it clearer?
Lower the Bit crusher mix to 30%, as in the first variation, and speak in short words.
