More about this voice

A quiet voice inside a helmet

PartSettingWhat you hear

Helmet shellFlanger 0.1 times a second, 30% mix; reverb 12%, 0.35 sA tight metallic closeness around the words
MuffleTreble cut above 5.5 kHz, bass cut below 120 HzSoft consonants, as if heard through a visor
PresenceMidrange +4 dB around 1.2 kHzEnough bite for the words to stay clear
EdgeDistortion 0.12, 25% mixA trace of helmet speaker, barely there

Say less, and say it softly

  • Speak just above a murmur. The compressor adds 6 dB afterwards, so soft speech still comes through full.
  • Use few words. This voice suits short answers, the terms of a deal and plain statements of fact.
  • Keep emotion out of it. Hold each sentence level and drop slightly on the last word.
  • Pause before you answer. A beat of silence reads as the helmet turning toward the listener.

Free Mandalorian voice changer FAQ

Is this the real voice from the show?

No. It is a voice in that style, put together from pitch, a flanger and reverb, with no audio taken from the series.

Can I use the Mandalorian voice in a Zoom call?

Yes, in Zoom's web client in a Chrome tab: press Use this voice in calls here, then select Facecam Virtual Mic in Zoom's microphone menu. The Zoom desktop app won't list it.

Why is the effect so subtle?

A helmet colors a voice only a little, so the settings are light. Raise the Flanger mix above 30% if you want more metal.
