Say less

  • Use few words. A reply of three or four words, then silence, fits better than an explanation.
  • Hold the same calm level whatever is happening. No rising pitch on questions, no raised voice under pressure.
  • Speak slightly slower than normal and finish every word. The effect is subtle, so sloppy speech just sounds like you with a cold.
  • Stay close to the mic and quiet. The bass lift rewards a near, low delivery.

Where a quiet voice is useful

Because it is subtle, this voice can run for hours: squad calls during a Halo night, a machinima narration, a calm commander in a sci-fi tabletop game. Nobody tires of it and every word is understood. For lines meant to come over the team radio, the first variation narrows the band to 400–3400 Hz and raises distortion to 0.25. The second removes the treble cut: the same calm voice without the helmet, for a quiet scene. The Space Marine voice is the one to pick when you want size and noise instead of restraint.

Free Master Chief voice changer FAQ

Is this the official Master Chief voice?

No. It's a sound-alike made by lowering and filtering your own voice, with no audio from the Halo games or the show.

Can I use it in Xbox party chat or in-game?

No. Consoles and desktop games can't see the Facecam Virtual Mic. It works when your squad talks on discord.com in a Chrome tab on a computer.

It barely changes my voice. Is that right?

Yes, it's a light effect: four steps down and a helmet filter. The rest is delivery, so stay calm and brief.

Can I make it deeper?

Move Pitch lower after it loads, and Tone with it. Go a step at a time; too low and it stops sounding like a person in armor.
