More about this voice

What makes a B1 sound thin and buzzy

PartSettingWhat you hear
HeightPitch +4, Tone +3A small, reedy voice box
BuzzRobot 140 Hz, 50% mixA constant drone that every word rides on
GrainBit crusher 9-bit, 40% mixCheap digital roughness
NoseBass cut below 400 Hz, treble cut above 4 kHz, midrange +5 dB around 1.8 kHzAll nose, no body
SweepFlanger 0.15 times a second, 45% mixA slow metallic shimmer

Play it dim and obedient

  • Keep each sentence on one note. A rising and falling melody fights the 140 Hz buzz; a monotone locks onto it.
  • Speak in short confirmations and confused questions. These droids acknowledge orders and get things wrong.
  • Leave a small gap between words, as if each one is looked up before it is spoken.
  • Don't shout. Panic is funnier at the same flat volume, only faster.

Good places for a battle droid

It is a comedy voice. It suits group roleplay where several friends play a squad of identical droids, short skits and animations made with the Online Voice Changer, and reaction lines on stream. In long conversations the 50% buzz wears on listeners, so switch to the clip with the buzz at 30% for anything over a minute. The third clip, with Pitch and Tone back to 0, gives a bigger, lower droid for a commander or a heavier model.

Free battle droid voice changer FAQ

Is this the real battle droid voice?

No. It's built in the browser from pitch, a ring-modulator buzz and a bit crusher to resemble the B1 sound, without any Star Wars audio.

Can I use it in Roblox voice chat?

Not live. Roblox runs as its own app and can't use Facecam Virtual Mic. You can record droid lines in the Online Voice Changer and put the downloaded audio in videos.

People can't understand me. What helps?

Lower the Robot mix to 30%, as in the second clip, and slow down. The buzz covers consonants when you rush.
