The fast-tape trick, without the tape

One difference from real tape: your timing is untouched. You speak at normal speed and come out high, live.
Speak for the speed-up
- Over-pronounce. The original recordings were performed slowly and carefully so the words survived the speed-up; crisp consonants do the same job here.
- Play the troublemaker: quick comebacks, big groans, a whine that slides upward.
- The effect doesn't tune or sing for you. Sing in tune yourself and it carries the tune up.
- For singing over a backing track, use the Pitch +12 clip. A full octave keeps you in the song's key; +9 and +7 land in a different key, so keep them for speech.
Three pitches, three brothers
The main clip at Pitch +9 is the cheeky lead. Pitch +7 is the taller, calmer brother: a little lower, and easier on the ears across a long conversation. Pitch +12 is a full octave, the original double-speed tape trick, and the squeakiest of the set. To build a trio for a video, record the same line three times in the Online Voice Changer, once at each pitch, and layer the files in your editor.

Can I make a chipmunk version of a song?
You can raise a recording of your own singing in the Online Voice Changer. It lifts the pitch without changing the speed, so the result stays in time with the music.
Is this the real Alvin voice?
No. It's the same kind of pitch trick applied to your voice, so it resembles the trio, but it is unofficial and uses none of their recordings.
What is the difference from the Chipmunk voice?
Very little by design: this page loads the Chipmunk voice at Pitch +9 and offers the +7 and +12 brothers as clips.
Will it work in a Google Meet call?
Yes. Meet runs in a Chrome tab, so after pressing Use this voice in calls you can choose Facecam Virtual Mic in Meet's audio settings.
