More about this voice

What puts the bounce in

PartSettingWhat you hear
LiftPitch +4, Tone +3Higher and smaller, though still an adult under the makeup
WobbleChorus 5 times a second, 50% mixed inA wavering, rubbery note on every vowel
HonkMidrange +6 dB around 1.6 kHzA squeezed-horn tone in the middle
Ring volumeCompressor 4:1 from -24 dBLoud all the time, as if playing to the back row

Play to the back row

  • Swing your pitch up and down inside single words. The wobble exaggerates each swing into a wheeze.
  • Announce everything. Greet people as though they've just walked into the big top.
  • Laugh in a descending run, each burst a little lower than the last, and take a noisy breath to restart.
  • For the creepy clip do the opposite: slow down, go quiet and stop moving your pitch at all.

Party, circus or the one nobody booked

Pitch +7 is the birthday-party version: sillier, squeakier and the most child-friendly of the three, good for a kids' video or a balloon-animal sketch. The main clip is the ring clown, with enough adult left in it for hosting a game night or a stream segment. The third clip drops to Pitch -3 and Tone -1 and adds a 2.5-second reverb at 25%: the clown nobody booked. That one is for horror streams, haunted-house audio and Halloween videos, with an audience that came for a scare.

Free clown voice changer FAQ

Can I make it a scary clown voice?

Yes. Set Pitch to -3 and Tone to -1 and add reverb, as in the first variation, then speak slowly and softly.

Does the clown voice work on Twitch?

It does when you broadcast from a streaming studio that runs in a Chrome tab; choose Facecam Virtual Mic as the microphone there. Installed broadcasting software can't pick it up.

The wobble is too strong. How do I tame it?

Lower the Chorus mix below 50%. The honk and the lift stay; only the waver shrinks.
