Free OBS voice changer

A free voice changer for OBS with no plugin to install: your changed voice arrives as a Browser source.

Real-Time Voice Changer: change your voice live

Your browser will ask for microphone access when you click.

Set it up in OBS

  1. 01

Turn on your voice in Chrome

Pick a voice in the Facecam popup. Keep Chrome open for the whole stream.

  2. 02

    Push the mic from vdo.ninja

Go to vdo.ninja in Chrome and choose Add your Camera to OBS. Allow the camera and mic, pick “Facecam Virtual Mic” as the audio source, click Start and copy the view link it gives you.

  3. 03

    Add the link to OBS

In OBS, add a Browser source and paste the view link as its URL. Tick Control audio via OBS so the voice shows up as its own channel in the Audio Mixer.

  4. 04

Mute your real mic in OBS

Otherwise viewers hear both voices. Mute or remove the Mic/Aux device and keep only the browser source's audio.

  5. 05

    Record a test

Hit Start Recording, talk for a few seconds and play the file. Check the voice and that it lines up with your camera.

Tested by Facecam team. Facecam extension 2.1.0 (test build) in Chromium 153.0.8010.12 on macOS 26.5.1 (Apple silicon), with Chromium's built-in test camera and microphone, not signed in to any app. We opened vdo.ninja's start page, the page you push your camera from and checked from inside that page that its device list listed Facecam Virtual Mic and got sound from it. We didn't sign in or join a call there, so VDO.Ninja's own menus in the steps come from VDO.Ninja's help pages (see Sources).

If it doesn't work

ProblemFix
The Browser source is silentControl audio via OBS isn't ticked, or the vdo.ninja tab in Chrome was closed. Reopen the push page and refresh the source.
The voice is late compared with my cameraThe trip through the browser adds a short delay. Add a matching Sync Offset to your camera's audio or a render delay to the camera source.
I hear myself echoing in my headphonesAudio monitoring is on for the browser source. Set it to Monitor Off in Advanced Audio Properties.
vdo.ninja doesn't list the Facecam micReload the page with Facecam on. It must be regular Chrome, not OBS's browser dock.

Three ways to get a changed voice into OBS

WayInstall anything?Works onNotes

Application Audio Capture of ChromeNoWindows 10 (2004 or later) and 11, OBS 28+Turn on Hear myself in the voice changer so Chrome plays the voice; wear headphones

If you want one mic that every desktop program sees, an installed voice changer is the simpler tool. The browser route is for when you can't or don't want to install audio drivers.

More about OBS

Why a Browser source can't run Facecam itself

OBS's Browser source is built on the Chromium Embedded Framework: a separate browser inside OBS, without your Chrome profile or extensions. So the voice has to be made in your real Chrome and sent over, which is exactly what the VDO.Ninja link does.

Questions

Is there an OBS plugin for Facecam?

No, and none is needed for this route: OBS only needs a Browser source.

Does this work in Streamlabs Desktop?

Streamlabs Desktop also has a Browser Source, so the same view link can be added there. We haven't tested it.

Can I send the Facecam camera the same way?

Yes. The same vdo.ninja page lets you pick Facecam Virtual Camera as the video source, so one link can carry a face swap or avatar and the voice.

Is VDO.Ninja free?

Yes. It's a free web tool that runs in the browser; there's nothing to install.
