Free YouTube voice changer
Go live on YouTube in a different voice from the Webcam option, or change a video's voice before you upload it. Free, no sign-up.
Your browser will ask for microphone access when you click.
Set it up in YouTube
01
Check you can go live
YouTube needs a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the last 90 days. Check this ahead of your stream, not five minutes before.
02
Start a webcam stream
In Chrome, click Create → Go live and choose Webcam. Enter the title, description and privacy; Unlisted is a good first test.
03
Select the mic
Before going live, YouTube asks you to make sure the right webcam and microphone are selected. Choose “Facecam Virtual Mic” as the microphone.
04
Pick the voice and go live
Choose a voice in the Facecam popup, click Go Live, and watch the stream on another device to hear what viewers hear.
Tested by Facecam team. Facecam extension 2.1.0 (test build) in Chromium 153.0.8010.12 on macOS 26.5.1 (Apple silicon), with Chromium's built-in test camera and microphone, not signed in to any app. We opened youtube.com; Go live → Webcam is in YouTube Studio, which needs a signed-in channel and checked from inside that page that its device list listed Facecam Virtual Mic and got sound from it. We didn't sign in or join a call there, so YouTube's own menus in the steps come from YouTube's help pages (see Sources).
If it doesn't work
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| There's no Webcam option | The channel isn't enabled for live streaming yet, or you're in an unsupported browser. Webcam streaming needs Chrome 60 or newer (or Firefox, where Facecam doesn't run). |
| Viewers hear my normal voice | The stream was set up with your real microphone. End it, start a new webcam stream and choose the Facecam mic on the device check. |
| I stream with OBS | Then YouTube gets its sound from OBS, which can't pick the Facecam mic directly. See the OBS page for the VDO.Ninja route. |
Live or upload: two different jobs

| Voice over a video you'll upload | Online Voice Changer | Add the recording, pick a preset, download the WAV |

More about YouTube
After the stream
YouTube automatically archives streams under 12 hours, so the changed voice is also what's on the replay. Faceless and character channels use this to keep one consistent voice across lives and uploads: note the preset and slider values and reuse them in the Online Voice Changer.

Questions
Can it change the voice in a video that's already on YouTube?
No. Change the audio before uploading: run the recording through the Online Voice Changer and put the new audio on your video in your editor.
Does it work for YouTube Shorts?
For Shorts you record or edit, yes: process the voice track first. The YouTube phone app can't use the Facecam mic.
Is a voice changer allowed on YouTube?
Changing your own voice is a normal creative effect. YouTube's rules about impersonation and disclosure of realistic altered content still apply to what you make with it.
