Free soundboard for YouTube

Sound effects on a YouTube live stream you run straight from Chrome, with no encoder. Free, no sign-up.

Soundboard: play sounds into your mic

Your browser will ask for microphone access when you click.

Set it up in YouTube

  1. 01

Make sure the channel can go live

YouTube asks for a verified channel with no live streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. Sort that out before show day.

  2. 02

    Send sounds to the extension

On the Facecam soundboard choose your clips and click Use these sounds in calls. 'Calls' here includes a live stream page.

  3. 03

    Start a webcam stream

On YouTube click Create → Go live and choose Webcam. Fill in the title, description and privacy, then Next.

  4. 04

    Check the microphone YouTube picked

Before Go Live, YouTube shows which webcam and microphone it will use. Change the microphone to “Facecam Virtual Mic”.

  5. 05

    Go live and play

Press Go Live, then trigger sounds from the Facecam popup or your shortcut keys while the stream page stays open.

Tested by Facecam team. Facecam extension 2.1.0 (test build) in Chromium 153.0.8010.12 on macOS 26.5.1 (Apple silicon), with Chromium's built-in test camera and microphone, not signed in to any app. We opened youtube.com; Go live → Webcam is in YouTube Studio, which needs a signed-in channel and checked from inside that page that its device list listed Facecam Virtual Mic and got sound from it. We didn't sign in or join a call there, so YouTube's own menus in the steps come from YouTube's help pages (see Sources).

ProblemFix
There's no Webcam optionLive streaming isn't enabled for the channel yet, or you're on a phone. Use Chrome on a computer.
The stream has my voice but no soundsYouTube is on your real microphone. Reopen the stream setup and choose the Facecam mic.
I stream with OBSThen YouTube never sees Chrome's mic. Add the soundboard to OBS as a browser source instead.
Sounds are too loud in the replayLower each pad's volume on the soundboard. The archived stream keeps what was sent.

What ends up in the replay

YouTube automatically archives streams under 12 hours, and the replay has exactly the audio you sent, sounds included. Use clips you made or have the rights to: the ten starter sounds are made by Facecam and are free to use, while someone else's song stays someone else's, in the live stream and in the archive.

Questions

Can I add sound effects to a YouTube video with this?

Not to an uploaded video. It plays sounds live. For recorded videos, add effects in your video editor.

Which browsers does YouTube's webcam streaming support?

YouTube lists Chrome 60+ and Firefox 53+. Facecam needs Chrome.

Do viewers hear my voice dip when a sound plays?

Only if you leave Lower my voice while a sound plays on. It makes clips clearer; turn it off to talk over them.
