Free soundboard for Teams
Play applause, a drum roll or your own clips into a Teams meeting you joined in Chrome. Free, no sign-up.
Your browser will ask for microphone access when you click.
Set it up in Microsoft Teams
01
Send your board to the extension
Open the Facecam soundboard, keep the ten starter sounds or add clips of your own, and click Use these sounds in calls.
02
Open the invite in Chrome
Click the meeting link and choose Continue on this browser instead of opening the Teams app. You don't need a Teams account to join as a guest; some meetings ask for an email code first.
03
Pick the mic before you join
On the pre-join screen, allow the microphone when Chrome asks, then set the microphone to “Facecam Virtual Mic” and select Join now.
04
Or switch once you're in
Select the dropdown arrow next to Mic in the meeting controls and choose “Facecam Virtual Mic” there.
05
Play from the Facecam popup
Click the Facecam icon in Chrome's toolbar, open More → Soundboard and press a sound. Everyone hears it mixed with your voice.
Tested by Facecam team. Facecam extension 2.1.0 (test build) in Chromium 153.0.8010.12 on macOS 26.5.1 (Apple silicon), with Chromium's built-in test camera and microphone, not signed in to any app. We opened the Teams (free) web page at teams.live.com, not a meeting and checked from inside that page that its device list listed Facecam Virtual Mic and got sound from it. We didn't sign in or join a call there, so Microsoft Teams's own menus in the steps come from Microsoft Teams's help pages (see Sources).
If it doesn't work
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| The Facecam mic isn't in the Mic dropdown | You're in the Teams desktop app, or the tab loaded before the extension was on. Rejoin with Continue on this browser and reload the tab. |
| Teams says it can't use your microphone | In Chrome, open Settings → Privacy and security → Site settings → Microphone and allow Teams. Inside Teams, More options → App permissions has a second switch; turn it on and refresh. |
| A long clip fades or sounds thin to others | Teams treats anything that isn't speech as background noise. Keep clips short and loud, and test with a colleague before the real meeting. |
| The extension won't install on a work laptop | Your organisation manages Chrome. Only your IT admin can allow the extension. |
Teams on the web vs the Teams app, for sounds
| Teams in Chrome | Teams desktop app | |
|---|---|---|
| Facecam soundboard | Yes, through Facecam Virtual Mic | No |
| Join without an account | Yes, Continue on this browser | Needs the app installed |
| Noise suppression setting | Not documented by Microsoft for the web | Settings → Devices → Noise suppression |
| Video you see | One incoming video or the shared screen | Full gallery |
If the meeting matters more than the sounds, the desktop app is the fuller Teams. If you want a drum roll before the quarterly numbers, join that one from Chrome.

Questions
Does Teams have a built-in soundboard?
Microsoft's meeting help doesn't describe one. Playing clips through your microphone is what Facecam adds when you join in the browser.
Do the other people need Facecam?
No. They hear the sounds in whatever Teams app they use, because the sounds arrive as your microphone.
Does it work in Teams (free) for personal calls?
Yes, the same way: open the link in Chrome and continue in the browser. Free Teams meetings run up to 60 minutes with up to 100 people.
Can I trigger sounds without leaving the Teams tab?
Yes. Set keys at chrome://extensions/shortcuts; they play the first six sounds you sent to the extension from any tab.
