Free Discord PNGTuber
A talking picture instead of your webcam in Discord calls: it lights up when you speak, and all it needs is your mic. Free, no sign-up.
Your browser will ask for microphone access when you click.
Set it up in Discord
01
Make the avatar
Open the PNGTuber Maker, click Start mic, and choose Pip, Mochi, Bolt or Fern, or upload your own Idle and Talking pictures.
02
Tune it to your voice
Talk and watch the bar: raise Threshold until room noise stays under the line, so the mouth only opens for speech.
03
Send it to Facecam
Click Use as my camera in calls.
04
Choose it in Discord
On discord.com: User Settings → Voice & Video → camera dropdown → “Facecam Virtual Camera”. Join a call and turn on your camera.
Tested by Facecam team. Facecam extension 2.1.0 (test build) in Chromium 153.0.8010.12 on macOS 26.5.1 (Apple silicon), with Chromium's built-in test camera and microphone, not signed in to any app. We opened discord.com's sign-in page, not a voice channel and checked from inside that page that its device list listed Facecam Virtual Camera and got video from it (1280x720). We didn't sign in or join a call there, so Discord's own menus in the steps come from Discord's help pages (see Sources).
If it doesn't work
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| The mouth doesn't move in the call | The avatar follows the sound going through the Facecam mic. Set Discord's Input Device to Facecam Virtual Mic as well, and check Chrome may use the microphone on discord.com. |
| The mouth flaps while others talk | Your speakers are leaking into the mic. Use headphones, or raise Threshold. |
| My uploaded character didn't carry over | The pictures are over the size limit for calls. Shrink them to about 1 MB each and send again. |
Three ways people PNGTube on Discord
| Method | Needs | Shows up as |
|---|---|---|
| Facecam on discord.com | Chrome and the extension | Your camera tile |
| A PNGTuber app plus OBS Virtual Camera | Two installs | Your camera tile, in the Discord app too |
| Sharing a window with Go Live | A PNGTuber app | A screen share, not a camera |
The app-plus-OBS route is the one to use if you must stay in the Discord desktop app. The browser route is quicker to set up and works where you can't install programs.
More about Discord
Pair it with the Facecam mic
In a call, the character's mouth follows the level of the Facecam mic. Choosing Facecam Virtual Mic as Discord's Input Device, with the voice effect off if you want your normal voice, keeps picture and sound in step, and lets soundboard clips go out through the same input.

Questions
Do I need a webcam?
No. The avatar is driven by your microphone only.
Does it work in the Discord app?
Not directly. Use discord.com in Chrome, or route a PNGTuber through OBS Virtual Camera for the app.
Is there a watermark?
No, and it's free with no account.
Can it blink?
Yes. Add Blink and Talking + blink pictures, or use a starter character, which has all four.
