More about this sound
About our version
Ours is 2.2 seconds: a high and a low chime ringing out in a hallway. It's on the Halloween board as the trick-or-treater at the door.
The other takes: Impatient (someone leaning on the button), Buzzer (a harsh apartment door buzz, pressed once) and Long chime, a four-note melody in the style of the Westminster chimes many older doorbells play.
It fools real people and real dogs. That's a feature.
Ding dong: how doorbells got their sound
Most doorbells ring two notes because of how the classic chime works: pressing the button snaps a plunger into one metal tone bar (ding), and letting go lets a spring push it back into a second, lower bar (dong). The four-note chime comes from the Westminster Quarters, the tune the Great Clock at Westminster plays every quarter hour, copied into home chimes last century. Video doorbells still play one of the two, because that's what a doorbell sounds like.

Questions
Why do dogs bark at doorbell sounds?
They've learned that the sound means someone is at the door, so any ding dong, even one from a speaker or a TV, can set them off. Some owners play doorbell sounds on purpose to train their dogs to stay calm.
Which door bell sound is the classic one?
The two-tone ding dong, the first take on this page: the door bell sound most people picture. The long four-note chime is the fancier Westminster-style ring.
Is there a door buzzer sound?
Yes: Buzzer is a harsh electric door buzz pressed once, 1.2 seconds, like an apartment intercom.
Is it on the Halloween soundboard?
Yes, on the same board as the witch's laugh and the creaky door.
