Remaker AI Face Swap: Is It Free?

Remaker AI face swap is free for photos, and it really needs no account. We ran nine swaps as a guest, timed them, and read the pricing, refund and privacy pages so you know the catch before you pay.

Short answer

Yes: Remaker AI's photo face swap is free, with no sign-up and no watermark; on October 9, 2026 we ran 9 swaps in a row as a guest, each in about 8 seconds. Video and GIF face swaps are for paying users only, at 1 credit per second of video. Credits are one-time packs from $5.99 for 200, paid with crypto or through Telegram (a card works only inside Telegram), and those payments are non-refundable.

Remaker is a browser site with more than 20 AI tools, and its face swap is the one most people come for. The photo swap is free, with no account and no watermark. Here's what we got from it, what paying looks like, and the few things its own pages contradict.

Is Remaker AI face swap really free?

Yes, the single-face photo swap is free and needs no account. We opened remaker.ai/face-swap-free in a fresh browser, uploaded two photos and clicked Generate 9 times in a row. Every swap came back, none asked us to log in, and none had a watermark. The result is a PNG at the same size as the photo you upload (600 × 800 pixels for ours).

What isn't free: video and GIF face swaps. Remaker's video FAQ says they're "exclusive to VIP users", and you become VIP by buying any credit pack. If you sign in, Remaker also hands out daily free credits (5 on the first day, rising by one a day to 10 if you sign in every day) that expire at midnight UTC, so they can't be saved up for a video.

How do you use Remaker face swap?

  1. Open the photo face swap

Go to remaker.ai, pick Face Swap, then Photo Face Swap and Single Face. Keep Model Version on v2 (the default).

  2. Upload Original Image: the photo that changes

This is the picture you want to end up with. It keeps its hair, clothes, pose and background.

  3. Upload Target face: the face you want

Only the face is taken from this photo. Use one where the face is front-on, both eyes visible.

  4. Click Generate, then Download

Ours took 7.6 to 9.1 seconds. Results stay in the page's History, but only for a day, so download straight away.

Remaker's two upload boxes as they look on remaker.ai, with our labels added underneath. Screenshot from our October 9 test; both faces are computer-made.

The labels trip people up. Most face swap tools call the photo that changes the target. Remaker calls the face you want to use the "Target face" instead, so if you put the photos in the order you're used to, you get the swap backwards. If your result looks like the wrong person, swap the two uploads and run it again.

How good and how fast is it?

Good, on clean portraits. The picture at the top of this post is our test: two front-facing photos, each face swapped into the other. Both results look like real photos, with no seams, smeared eyebrows or warped teeth. The new face takes on the lighting and skin tone of the photo it lands in, which is why the face in the green-top photo looks lighter than it did in its own photo. Small details on the face don't survive: the nose stud and bindi in photo 1 are gone, because that whole face was replaced. For which photos swap well and which don't, see how to face swap two photos.

Remaker says v2 is "better with face obstructions", such as hair or a hand over the face. Our two photos had none, so both versions gave the same picture. If v2 fails on a harder photo, its own note says to switch to v1.

What does Remaker cost if you pay?

Remaker sells one-time credit packs with no subscription, and purchased credits don't expire. Prices on its pricing page on October 11, 2026:

PackPricePer credit30 s of video swap
200 credits$5.993.0¢about $0.90
530 credits$9.991.9¢about $0.57
1,100 credits$19.991.8¢about $0.55
3,000 credits$49.991.7¢about $0.50
20,000 credits$2991.5¢about $0.45

Video swaps cost 1 credit per second, take files up to 500 MB and up to 30 minutes long, which is far longer than most browser tools allow. Some reviews still list a $2.99 pack of 150 credits; it wasn't on the pricing page when we checked.

Is Remaker AI safe to use?

It's a working tool, not a scam: the free swap does exactly what it says. The privacy side is less tidy. Its FAQ says it "does not store or save any of the images uploaded", then in the same answer that uploads are deleted within 48 hours, while the History panel says results are deleted after a day. The privacy policy doesn't give a retention period for photos at all, and the FAQ still calls the tool "FaceVary" in places.

One thing we checked ourselves: each uploaded photo is copied to a link on Remaker's image server. We opened those links from a separate, logged-out request and got the photos back. The links are long and random, so nobody can guess them, but anyone who has one can open the picture. Upload what you'd be fine with sitting on a server for a day or two.

When is Facecam the better pick?

For a free one-off photo swap, Remaker is hard to beat, and we'd use it. Facecam's Photo Face Swap is a browser tool that swaps a face into a single photo, leaving the rest of the picture untouched; it also lets you check how a face looks before using it live. Without an account you get one free swap a day, with a small facecam.ai mark in the corner. After that each swap is 3 credits, which is 240 swaps a month on Starter ($10) or 800 on Premium ($20), with no mark. In our own test on October 4, a swap took 23 to 30 seconds, slower than Remaker's 8.

  • You want to pay by card on the site. Facecam plans are a normal monthly card payment you can cancel, with no Telegram or crypto step.
  • You want short clips and GIFs on the same plan. Video Face Swap takes clips up to 60 seconds and GIF Face Swap GIFs up to 30 seconds. For anything longer, Remaker's 30-minute limit wins.
  • You want the face live, on a call. Remaker only makes files. Facecam's Live Face Swap puts any face you upload on your webcam in Google Meet, Zoom on the web or Discord in Chrome.

Live Face Swap is a real-time face swap that lets you look like anyone you choose: try it with your webcam on facecam.ai, then use it as a virtual camera in Google Meet, Zoom on the web, Discord in the browser and other sites in Chrome with the extension. Live face swap is on Premium and Pro. Every face tool we make is on the face swap hub.

What didn't we test?

We didn't make an account or buy credits, so we didn't run Remaker's video, GIF, multi-face or batch swaps, and we can't say how fast refunds or support answer. Our photos were two clean, front-facing studio portraits; side profiles, glasses, group photos and dim snapshots are harder for every face swap, and we didn't try them here. We ran the swaps on one afternoon, and a guest limit may exist past nine swaps. Facecam's 23 to 30 seconds is from our October 4 session on different photos, not a side-by-side run.

Questions

Does Remaker AI face swap add a watermark?

No. The free photo swap gave us clean PNGs with no watermark and no account, nine times in a row on October 9, 2026.

Do I need an account for Remaker face swap?

Not for photo swaps. You need one for video and GIF swaps, which also need bought credits, and for the daily free credits.

How much is Remaker AI?

Credits are one-time packs from $5.99 for 200 up to $299 for 20,000, with no subscription. A video swap costs 1 credit per second.

Can I pay for Remaker with a credit card?

Not on remaker.ai itself. Its checkout offers "Card via Telegram" or crypto, so a card works only through Telegram, and its billing FAQ says those payments are non-refundable.

Does Remaker work on iPhone?

Yes, in the browser. Remaker's FAQ says the face swap works in Safari on iPhone and in Chrome or Firefox on Android; there's no app to install.

Why did Remaker put the wrong face on my photo?

The uploads are probably the wrong way round. On Remaker, Original Image is the photo that changes and Target face is the face you want; swap them and generate again.
